Cafés 01 and 02 by Softer Volumes, paired with two Arita Porcelain Coffee Cups.

A set for coffee, reading and time spent at home. The two volumes trace cafés around the world, while the cups bring that ritual closer to hand.

Made in Arita, Japan from Touseki porcelain, each cup takes its form from familiar stackable barista glassware. Together, the books and cups form a small collection for the coffee table.

Includes: Cafés 01 and Cafés 02 by Softer Volumes; 2 × Arita Porcelain Coffee Cups, 230ml.

Arita Coffee Cups

Construction / Engineered with a precise, stepped profile that allows multiple cups to stack seamlessly, optimising space while echoing functional industrial design. The exterior is left entirely unglazed, fired to a smooth, tactile matte finish, while the interior features a contrasting high-gloss protective glaze that meets cleanly at the rim.

Material / Slip-cast in Arita, Japan, using a custom-blended clay derived entirely from natural Touseki (porcelain stone). The raw formulation is enriched with controlled additions of iron and sand, introducing subtle, unpredictable mineral speckles that guarantee no two vessels are identical.

Fit & Function / Sized at a versatile 230ml capacity: perfectly proportioned for flat whites, filter coffee, americano or standard cappuccinos. The stepped geometric ledge acts as a natural, ergonomic resting point for the fingers, providing a secure grip and insulating the hand from heat. The non-porous interior glaze is strictly engineered to resist coffee oils and prevent staining over time.

Cafes 01 by independent publisher Softer Volumes is a hand-curated guide to the cafes that define coffee culture around the globe. From neighbourhood institutions to architectural icons, each entry is chosen for its character, craft, and atmosphere.

Cafes 02 by the independent publisher Softer Volumes is the second volume after 01 that features additionally hand-selected cafes from all over the world coveted for design - all bound within a beautiful linen hardcover and made with paper certified by the FSC® for sustainable and ethical sourcing.
